Hello everyone!
My name is Karen (aka Kay) from California. I am a wife and a mother of three beautiful kids.
Macarons have always been my guilty pleasure. I had my first macaron when I went to LA and from then on I was hooked! I came back to the Bay Area searching for places that have them, but they were always too far from me or not to my liking.
I was never really a baker, I always made my cakes, cookies, or cupcakes from ready mixes or bought them from my local bakery, to satisfy my cravings. When it came to macarons, I was determined to learn, because I was never satisfied with just a few. So, I researched and finally decided to make them myself. I didn't realize how difficult these little cookies were. I tried countless times, over and over for months, and I can't even tell you how many wasted eggs I went through, lets just say the family had lots of omelets.
After a year of trying and taking a break from failing, I finally got it! I was brave enough to serve them for the first time at a family function, and they were a hit and the highlight of the evening. I made them frequently tweaking out the ingredients and flavors to what I call the perfect macaron.
As time flew by and while I was on maternity leave with my second child, I wanted to keep myself busy, so a friend told me I should sell my macarons in our community. I started a Facebook account added people and joined a group, then posted a sample sale. I found myself taking 16 dozen macaron orders and a custom baptism order in one weekend! I received so much great feedback that I decided to continue to make these french cookies popular and available in my area to satisfy everyone's guilty pleasure.
Love,
- Kay
